Now Classic Stage Company has given us a Doyle-directed off-Broadway version of "Passion, " the last and best of Mr. Sondheim's three collaborations with James Lapine.
Sondheim and Lapine have collaborated on several musicals, including "Sunday in the Park With George" and "Into the Woods, " both full of popular songs and plentiful humor.
Scott Ellis's Roundabout Theatre Company version of "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" and James Lapine's "Annie, " with Anthony Warlow as Daddy Warbucks, both opened on Broadway to happy effect.
