Barry McElduff moved the Sinn Fein motion calling on Culture Minister Nelson McCausland to establish a language strategy.

Education Minister Leighton Andrews, who is now in charge of the Welsh government's language policy, published a new strategy in March with the intention of encouraging people to speak Welsh, whatever their level of fluency.
Leading the debate Leighton Andrews AM explained that the strategy was working towards "encouraging and supporting the use of the Welsh language in families, increasing the provision of Welsh language activities for children and young people and strengthening the position of the Welsh language in the community".
He said that the strategy would look at barriers faced by people who wanted to use the Welsh language at work and would endeavour to make Wales a truly bilingual nation.
Being more direct and fresh with language is something we should all be doing, especially if we are in the fields of strategy and consultation.
