While the swim might seem likely to get cut, Korff cited a 2011 fire at a sewage-treatment plant that led to millions of gallons of waste flowing into the Hudson.
John Korff, the event's lead organizer, said he planned to have a decision by sometime Friday so that the 3, 000 or so athletes would have enough time to prepare for whatever course was set.
Said John Korff, whose company spearheaded the local operations for Saturday's race: "It's a fabulous event, but it can't be staged if people aren't comfortable with the entry price, " adding that he hadn't heard glaring criticisms about the course from participants.
