The league said between 22 and 27 defensive players were involved in the program and that it was administered by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, with the knowledge of coach Sean Payton.
"It depends on the role and certainly to be a head coach in rugby you need to have a pretty good knowledge of the game and I would suppose to be a manager of a soccer team you'd need the same, " he said.
There are so many factors that go into determining what exactly makes a good coach: wins and losses, recruiting success, overall basketball knowledge, the list goes on and on.
"But there is also such a thing as basic cricket knowledge and understanding and they should have applied that this afternoon, " said coach David Moore.
Brooklyn native and longtime coach Mike Dunleavy was rumored to be a candidate, but a league source with knowledge of the team's thinking said he was never really considered.
