"Kestrels, buzzards and even foxes hunt for prey on this stretch of coastline and I didn't want them picking up and eating contaminated birds, " Mr Hockett added.
Mr Ricketts said trust staff had cleared litter after "numerous events" at the site, which is also home to about 60 species of birds including kestrels and long-tailed tits.
He said wildlife had already begun to return to the area, with roe deer, brown hares and a wide variety of birds, including peregrine falcons, hobbies and kestrels, being spotted on the moss land.
