"I've signed with Mali, and I'm starting work this evening, " Keshi told BBC Sport from Bamako.
Keshi, who masterminded Togo's maiden World Cup qualification in 2006, took charge of Mali last month.
Pradeep Keshi is one of more than 200 who have taken refuge in Katmandu.
"My goal with Mali is to take it game by game and see the outcome, " Keshi said.
Keshi, who signed the deal on Tuesday, takes over Frenchman Jean-Francois Jodar who was sacked last month.
"The Nations Cup is dead and buried, and we are now in a new chapter, " Keshi said.
"He is a good player, and we just hope his career continues in this great direction, " Keshi said.

"I am determined to get a win there, " Keshi told BBC Sport.
Keshi's first official game in charge of the Eagles will be in June when they play Congo in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Keshi is fast gaining himself a reputation as one of the continent's shrewdest coaches despite being overlooked by his homeland on several ocassions.
Keshi, who was at the 1994 World Cup finals with Nigeria, had to cope with a personal tragedy before the game against Liberia.
"I am happy that they managed to get the result they needed and I hope that they do qualify in the end, " Keshi said.
Keshi told BBC Sport that he will have to prove himself all over again with Mali after their unimpressive displays at the African Nations Cup earlier this year.
"I respect Zambia because they have good players, " said Keshi.
Keshi was on the shortlist for the Nigeria national team post, but is now effectively out of contention, with the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) yet to make a decision.
