Not quite a decade later Mandell, 48, seems to be thriving on Wall Street, running a publicly traded firm called Sky Capital Holdings, which includes brokerages here and in the U.K. He is also chief executive of another publicly traded firm, Sky Capital Enterprises, which includes a British publisher, a medical device company and a firm that invests in homeland security businesses.
