Literally dozens of new bars have opened here, luring thirsty after-work businessmen with 24-hour beer barns, dance clubs, karaoke bars, an Irish Pub, a refrigerated "ice" bar and plenty of cheap eats to soak it all up.
In Atlantic City 15 years ago, when boxing cards could still sell out every hotel room in town, Bert arranged for a room at the Irish Pub, a former speakeasy that stays open around the clock and rents rooms above the bar to friends (Joe DiMaggio was a regular back in the day).
