Gone is the strange expanse of dash between the instrumentconsole and the base of the windshield, caused by the (old) New Beetle's strictly circular roofline.
The lines of these wood accents "flow" from the sporty gearshift area and ascend the center console and across the lower instrument panel to the door trim, playing a large role in defining the interior space in the front of the vehicle.
Fiber-optic ambient lighting in the load compartment visually extends the line drawn by the center console all the way from the instrument panel through to the rear seats.
