NextGen recently announced its EHR for ambulatory care has been certified by examiners under the aegis of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health InformationTechnology (ONCHIT), once led by Brailer.
Dr. Mostashari is the National Coordinator for Health InformationTechnology for the United States and he was attending a presentation by Acting CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner at HIMSS13 in New Orleans.
Two months later, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health InformationTechnology, which is responsible for EHR certification, issued a different set of rules, stating that hospitals have to certify their EHRs on 24 measures to meet requirements.
