These unflattering comparisons aside, the 15-inch Series 9 is still one of our favorite Windows machines -- heck, one of our favorite laptops, even.

Here at CES 2013, Samsung is showing off a white version of its 13-inch Series 9 Ultrabook -- the same second-gen model that's been shipping since last year.

This 13-inch Series 9 WQHD Ultrabook beams Windows 8 on 2, 560 x 1, 440 display (oh yes), making a visible leap beyond the existing Series 9 13-incher, which sticks to a more typical 1, 600 x 900.
The 15-inch Series 9 is far skinnier and lighter than the MacBook Pro, then, but it matches the MBP in build quality, thanks to a rock-solid unibody aluminum chassis and some funky aquamarine keyboard backlights.
