Now, I want to say what everyone here in Holland and everybody here in Michigan knows too well, which is that these have been some pretty tough times.
If he came to Iowa, he might know that not only are we putting out these windmills, but, increasingly, they're made right here in Iowa, made here in America.
Dealing with the aftermath of this spill also means protecting the health and safety of the folks who live and work here in Theodore, here in Alabama, and here on the Gulf Coast.

Because of you, we can once again say that the best cars in the world are built right here in the U.S. of A., right here in Ohio, right here in the Midwest.
Or we can start giving tax breaks to companies that are opening new plants and training new workers and creating new jobs here in Florida, in Kissimmee, here in the United States of America.
And just -- I don't want to steal your question, but I do want to just say, with respect to our budget, there's a reason why I'm spending this time out here in Asia and out here in the Pacific region.
And so some -- a very small percentage of the provisions in here, the proposals in here that affect Medicaid we would no longer put forward but would absolutely make up in terms of the size of savings in other ways.
Let's give them to companies that are investing right here in Iowa and right here in the United States of America, hiring American workers, making American products that we're selling around the world stamped with three proud words: Made in America.
And so we can keep giving tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas, or we can start rewarding companies that are opening new plants and training new workers right here in Wisconsin, right here in the United States of America.

Senator OBAMA: What we have to do is invest in retooling the auto industry to make our cars more efficient and make sure they're made not in Japan, not in South Korea, but right here in Michigan and right here in the United States of America.
The problem was, if we let GM and Chrysler simply go under, hundreds of thousands of Americans would have been hurt, not just at those companies themselves, but at auto suppliers and other companies and dealers here in Michigan, up in -- here in Ohio, up in Michigan, all across this country.

Let's reward them for investing in new plants and equipment here in the U.S., and training new workers here in the U.S., and keeping the research and development here in the U.S., and creating jobs right here in the U.S., making products that we sell around the world stamped with three proud words: Made in the USA. For us not to be the leaders in investing in clean energy manufacturing so that wind turbines and solar panels are not only designed here in the United States but made here in the United States makes absolutely no sense.

And last month also brought the largest increase in manufacturing employment since 1998 -- (applause) -- 1998, because I believe in manufacturing and I believe in manufacturing right here in the United States of America.
Chicago is dealing with a foot and a half of snow, freezing rain is falling in the Northeast and the wind chill is in the 20s here in the Sonoran Desert.
As I was driving in here -- (applause) -- as I was driving in here, I saw that a new fire station is being built, right -- (applause) -- thanks to the Recovery Act.
The inhalation is the most severe, in the past, thought to have 90% fatality, although in our cases here in this country, we've shown it to be 40% fatality, and that's more or less because of the advanced antibiotic therapy, and the ICU support that is much more advanced than it was when the statistics were first out.
And I know -- I know that there are folks right here in this audience, folks right here in Milwaukee and all across America, who are going through these kinds of struggles.
Even if you look at the Washington Post more recently: one weekend they did a piece on a white family in Virginia that was having exactly the same problem as an African-American family in Maryland, here in D.
But a lot of the heavy lifting in this case is really being done in the laboratories at the Centers for Disease Control and in facilities here in Florida.
And as you know, it could all come down to what happens in just a few key states like right here in Ohio -- right here, right here, right here.
And they were using those technologies in new ways in India, using different business models that applied uniquely to India, to make profits and to do good here in India -- and to create jobs here in India.
