Do you think that it was an opportunity that -- I mean, do you think most Americans normally hear him talking about those kinds of serious subjects in the way that he was today?
The metric of jobs saved or created has been debated pretty hotly in the last several months, which I think you would agree -- I mean, we've gone back and forth in this room.
The fact that he's been talking about the need to do this from the beginning, in 2009, and now other politicians are talking about it and making their opinions known about it -- I mean, I think you have to look at cause and effect here.
So I mean, I think that you have to -- the standard has to apply here.
And I mean, you can think of it basically as trying to find a phone without a camera on it now.
And do you think that's why globalisation gets so criticised at the moment, because it looks like the rich countries are profiting at the expense of the poor, I mean why do you think globalisation has so many enemies?
And it is in fact -- I mean, I think that when you talk about those members who seem to think that there is little consequence to the prospect of defaulting, despite all the significant evidence to the contrary, that they need to think twice about what goals are they looking to achieve here.
But if you think about global capital markets are in the couple of hundred trillion dollars, and if you lose five percent of that - I mean, you are talking about trillions of dollars, I think, being lost all in the matter of a few hours.
As to the proposal that you -- or the offer that you reference, I mean, I think it demonstrates the fact that we are willing to try to find a compromise.
And so, I mean, I think his misfortune was just, you know, bad luck.
