In October 2008, during my first visit to Liberia in nearly 20 years (I left Liberia years when I was eight years old), I was faced with the harsh realities of a post-conflict Liberia and the enormous challenges facing the country.
Throughout the years that I covered the wars in Sierra Leone and Liberia, many people searched for the "smoking gun" that would prove the link between the Liberian president and the RUF.
They're people that are very loyal to him and have fought in some of the most atrocious and gruesome conflicts in the region as leaders of the worst human rights atrocities, and I think there's no doubt that Taylor would like to go back to Liberia.
My plan is to ensure that every young girl in Liberia has a quality education and information about sexual and reproductive health -- but I will need more support to make that happen.
