And I know a lot of parents get shocked by that -- not the TV!

We thought you could eat it with a spoon and cut it with a knife. (Laughter.) And I know a lot of parents out there cooking broccoli like that.

And I know your instructors and parents have probably told you this time and time again, but they were right -- they're right, I'm sorry -- you'll learn that if you believe in yourself and put in your best effort, that there's nothing that you can't achieve.
For instance, when I was very young, you know, my parents were still married, and I lived sort of kind of a typical kid in small-town Kansas life.
But let me tell you what my parents did do for me, which I know many people share this story -- my parents saved for us.
You know, I think my parents, they led me into an awareness of what was going on.
And that must mean they have some amazing parents, and I know some of them are here, because many of the employees have children who go here. (Applause.) So well done.

Getting to know her and her parents, I realized, you can just opt out of all of this.
So I asked some folks who would know, the parents of Pack 109.
Above all, I see parents who care, and children who truly know that.
And parents say, look I have a right to know who's around my kids.
They look at your face and I feel that, you know, kids tend to look to their parents for cues.
You know, the parents might say, oh, well, I'm just not hungry today.
"From the things I know, he is a loving husband and he has a wife and parents in town, " Al-Akhras says.
"I believe in the case of teachers, the parents' right to know outweighs the teachers' right to privacy, " the governor said Tuesday in Albany.
And he said to me, you know, the saddest thing is when - he said I have had parents show up on this campus with their kid in tow, challenging this decision.
And I want to take this opportunity to say how sad I am for Eliot Spitzer's family, particularly his teenage daughters, his wife, of course, but his parents who are my generation and wonderful nice people, and I know this must be a terrible blow for them.
They never said that they were my real parents, I mean, I always knew I had this good-looking, you know, high-stepping mom, and she was like only 14 years older than me.
And so I know that women go in and out of the workforce to raise children, to take care of their parents -- so many issues that affect our lives.

But before I do, I want to give the parents a big round of applause because they work hard to help you succeed, and I know this is their day.
