An international research programme that helps to set up regional networks for analysing hydrological data through the exchange of data, knowledge and techniques at the regional level.

The technology processes remote-sensing data, including data from the LANDSAT and RADAR satellites, in combination with ground truth data provided by a ground penetrating radar and other information drawn from geological, hydrogeological, geographical, hydrological and climate data and, when dealing with deep aquifers, seismological data.

It is with this purpose that the FRIEND AMIGO Project shares with the UNESCO International Hydroinformatics Centre in Latin America and the Caribbean, shares the responsibility for developing the Integrated Data Base System of the International Hydrological Programme, a project that is being implemented.
