The HSDPA system allows for faster download speeds on mobile phones than most current networks.
The network and license for HSDPA is the same as those for 3G.
For instance, Novatel's Merlin XU870 ExpressCard allows for worldwide roaming between HSDPA networks in North America and Europe.
Does the very thought of a HSDPA, stub antenna-free, Windows Mobile-equipped slice of Palm goodness leave you dizzy with desire?
Still, the purely theoretical thought of over-the-air iTunes clipping along at HSDPA speeds is a tantalizing one, is it not?
Now EDGE's successor, a 3G-wireless technology called HSDPA (High-Speed Download Packet Access), provides transmission rates of 400 to 700 kilobits per second.
But apparently that might only be because devices capable of reaching 3.6Mbps "category 6" HSDPA haven't yet been whipped up -- until now.
We're still wishing for a few things, like EV-DO or HSDPA built-in, but we're not at all let down by what Apple is showing off.

Stranger still, however, Cingular apparently "evaluated and certified" the Junxion for use on their forthcoming HSDPA 3G data network, and is considering running with the thing.

Naturally, though, we'd love to be totally blown away with some HSDPA action instead of that weak sauce EDGE, but hey, that's what expansion slots are for.
Additional devices and exclusive services that take advantage of this high-speed HSDPA network, such as transmitting full motion video and providing ultra-fast audio, will be available in 2006.
Apparently Option successfully tested an HSDPA card based on a QUALCOMM MSM 6280 chipset to running at the category 6 speed limit of 3.6mbps on Nortel base stations in France.
The N75 lacks HSDPA, perhaps a tip of Nokia's hat to the fact that it hasn't fully bought into American 3G yet, but right now we'll take what we can get.
DoCoMo announced the delay of their HSDPA rollout a couple of weeks ago, and now the rumours are flying that Cingular will be delaying their rollout here in the States, as well.
Loaded with HSDPA, a 3.5-inch 400 X 240 display, 5 megapixel cam with auto focus, 16GB of onboard memory, microSDHC support up to 8GB, TV-out, FM radio, Bluetooth, WiFi -- see what we're saying here?
To provide these notifications in real time, the wireless wide-area network modules from Novatel Wireless securely connect through HSDPA and EV-DO networks to the Microsoft Exchange Server, storing user information and filter policies.
And while visions of straight up 10Mbps HSDPA dance in our head, it would appear that Cingular's initial rollout their HSDPA service ( BroadbandConnect) doles out much smaller chunks of bandwidth to its customers.
As we already know, the phone will feature a 2 megapixel camera, HSDPA, microSD expansion, and it comes as no surprise that the phone will support access to the full host of Rogers' media services.
We'll hold off on calling this thing a winner until we see it in person, but other than the lack of HSDPA 1900, there's nary a spec in the list that we find ourselves frowning over.
Unfortunately, the altogether more exciting U123T (which packs a TV tuner) and U123H (which includes a 3.5G HSDPA WWAN module) are still nowhere to be found, but we don't expect 'em to be too far behind.

From the looks of it, the company is certainly off to the right start, with the Everun packing both WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 on the inside, along with integrated HSDPA or WiBro to round out your connectivity options.
The docs only allude to a measly GPRS connection, which is a bit of a waste to say the least, especially considering Cingular's already on the EDGE tip and hopes have their HSDPA 3G network rolled out this year.

First and foremost, key specs of that lovely piece of kit were exposed: 3.6Mbps HSDPA is on board, as is a Qualcomm MSM7201A processor good for 528MHz, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of ROM, a capacitive touchscreen, and the key to our hearts.

According to these docs, the 620 will weigh 4.41 pounds, will be available in Core Solo and Duo configs, will have a 14-inch display running at either 1280x800 or 1440x900, and will include WiFi and Bluetooth, with optional internal HSDPA or EV-DO cards available.
Other highlights include a promise that HSDPA will factor into the company's 2007 plans, a wide-scale migration of the FastPort connector to the sides of the handsets, and a shortening of the span from announcement to release of UIQ-based models (a move we applaud).
Moving upwards, the C5510 adds in a dual-band 3G radio, 16GB expandability, and a 2 megapixel fixed-focus camera, while the S6700 slider (pictured) tops out the range with HSDPA, a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash, GPS, and 120MB of storage on board.

The last time we mentioned Toshiba's M400, it was rocking a lowly Core Solo processor and a 1, 024 x 768 resolution LCD, but now Toshiba is upping the ante on the convertible by tossing in a Core 2 Duo chip along with HSDPA technology.

One of those is this new Qisda QCM-330 smartphone, which is said to be Android-based, and packs a 4-inch, 1, 280 x 1, 024 screen (supposedly, although the actual resolution will likely differ given the aspect ratio), WiFi and HSDPA connectivity, a 3 megapixel camera, and an accelerometer, among other, as yet unnamed specs.
