The scandal erupted after HP director Tom Perkins complained about the tactics used in the probe, eventually leading to the departure of Dunn, who authorized the probe, from HP's board of directors.
"What was lacking was a real cross-company approach, " says Felice Swapp , HP's director of strategic initiatives.

According to people close to the Hewlett Foundation, where Hackborn served as a director, the 33-year HP veteran cut his ties to the foundation because the folks at HP believed he had a conflict of interest.
The former head of Autonomy, Mike Lynch, who is also a non-executive director of the BBC, has rejected HP's claims that former Autonomy management misled them as to the company's value.
It has since been involved in "a number of massive deals for Linux desktops" and they're even in a "massive deal right now for... multi-thousands of units of a desktop opportunity for Linux, " claims Doug Small, worldwide director of open source and Linux marketing at HP.
