To celebrate the opening, Vacheron is hosting a month-long American Heritage event at its new store, on Madison Avenue and 64th Street. (The store is the latest entry in what is becoming a veritable row-house of watchmaker shops along the avenue.) The Heritage event will put on public display notable historical watches and acquisition narratives from their owners.
The popular museum, which sees about six million visitors soak up its historical artefacts each year, has some 50, 000 objects on display which all need to be kept in the best condition.
He said that although the cup had no historical significance, "it was for charity and our customers will have something extra to enjoy viewing when I display them in the shop!"
