Like most security researchers, Flick defends his release of a new hackingtool by arguing that it creates awareness of already-existing vulnerabilities.
Those numbers vastly exceed previous jailbreaks such as Jailbreakme 3, a popular hackingtool for iOS released in the summer of 2011 that was used on around 2 million devices, according to a count at the time by creator Nicholas Allegra.
Both exploits take advantage of the Blackhole exploit kit, an off-the-shelf hackingtool that was updated last month to prey on the Java vulnerability, such that users who run the Java plug-in can have their PC entirely compromised via their browser when they visit an infected site.
