On September 6, 2012, GHSA announced its support of drugged driving per se laws and enhanced penalties for driving under the influence of multiple drugs.
The resolution came on the heels of serious efforts by some GHSA schools to leave the organization and form what would be known as the Georgia Public Schools Association.
According to a report from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), pedestrian deaths rose slightly in the first six months of 2010, the first time that has happened in four years.
Additionally, GHSA is encouraging states to adopt an enhanced penalty for driving under the influence of multiple drugs, such as a combination of alcohol and another drug, or the combination of multiple drugs (other than alcohol).
