WiFiSlam, which up until now had been shopping out its system to independent app developers, is one of several startups who are marrying traditional GPS coordinates with smartphone tools like accelerometers and compasses to get more precise coordinates.
On the Internet platform, companies get developers by offering them access to big databases they could not afford on their own (such as map coordinates, calendar information or sales tracking information) and letting them build things against it.
"When we get press inquiries, (regional spokesmen) are supposed to alert our press office, and the central office coordinates all press responses, " Martens told the Enterprise.
