The third thing I want to say, the most important thing I have to say is football starts today. (Applause.) So we intend to be finished to get home in time for kickoff. (Applause.) I don't know -- I know you've got a lot of teams here in Florida, but in Illinois there's just one team -- the Chicago Bears.
We enacted several new initiatives to help our returning veterans find new jobs and get trained for those jobs. (Applause.) The kind of outstanding young men and women that Chris was talking about, who come home -- I was up in Minnesota, met a young man who had been an emergency medic Iraq, saving lives under the most severe circumstances.

And when young women graduate, they should get equal pay for equal work. (Applause.) That should be a simple question to answer.
And that is why the very first bill he signed as President -- the first thing he did -- was sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to make sure women get equal pay for equal work -- (applause) -- first thing he did.
Change is the first legislation that I signed into law, the Lilly Ledbetter Act that has a very simple principle -- (applause) -- women should get paid an equal day's pay for an equal day's work, and our daughters should be treated just like our sons when it comes to the workplace. (Applause.) That's what change is.
We are so past the point where it should be debatable that women get paid the same as men for doing the same job. (Applause.) And it is something that -- especially because there was a -- it was just released I think last week showing that increasingly the wives are making more than the husbands in some circumstances.

We're going to get it done. (Applause.) I want to start by thanking Jean and Bella for all their hard work.
Because we know this nation cannot succeed without a growing, thriving middle class and sturdy ladders for everybody who is willing to work to get into that middle class. (Applause.) Our fight goes on because America has always done best when everybody has got a fair shot, and everybody is doing their fair share, and everybody plays by the same rules.
You don't get to choose between paying your mortgage bills or your medical bills. (Applause.) You don't get to choose between paying your kids' tuition and saving enough for retirement.
And that is why Barack doubled funding for Pell Grants and fought so hard to stop student loan interest rates from increasing. (Applause.) Because he knows how important it is for all of our young people to get the education they need for the jobs they deserve.
Manufacturing is now hiring at a faster pace, investing in America again, consistently adding jobs for the first time since the 1990s. (Applause.) Businesses starting to get back to basics -- the private sector creating nearly 4.3 million new jobs in the last 27 months, over 800, 000 jobs just this year alone.
