In the general election, Ms. McMahon will face Democratic Rep. Christopher Murphy, who won his Senate primary over former Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz.
He tried to position himself as a centrist candidate in his Senate run, as opposed to Ms. McMahon, who he argued was unelectable in the general election.
As she did in 2010, Ms. McMahon will face a steep challenge this year in the general election when she faces Mr. Murphy in the reliably Democratic state.
In Connecticut, Linda McMahon, the former wrestling executive, is in a close race with longtime Democratic Attorney General Richard Blumenthal to replace Christopher Dodd in the U.S. Senate.
