When iTrip Auto is connected to an iPhone or iPod touch, Aha detects and launches its Griffin iTrip-specific settings to help the driver find an unused FMfrequency on which to stream their Aha stations.
The base unit transmits signals across an unused FMfrequency, and the user can select from numerous radio stations with the tuner, which also has a "Tell Me More" button that can be used to obtain more information about songs being broadcast, or even to purchase MP3 files or CDs.
The FM radio's scanner "found" a station at virtually every legal frequency, even when no signal was present--as well as several channels unusable in North America.
