The concept was developed by Johnathan Holifield co-founder of The America21 Project, a national initiative connecting African and Latino Americans to the 21st century Innovation Economy, through STEM education, high-growth entrepreneurship and private capital formation and investment.

Marvell has also expanded its collaboration with Stanford University by announcing the formation of the SMILE Consortium, an industry organization dedicated to developing innovative education solutions on an open platform that enable "Classroom 3.0, " a connected, secure learning environment that simplifies and speeds the deployment of technology to students worldwide.

The company had raised more money than planned, he said, thanks to the newer startup education and funding outfits like The Founder Institute and AngelList, which are dedicated to the formation of largely Internet-based interactive firms.
