The woman, 23-year-old Feng Jianmei, said Wednesday that she felt heavy pressure following weekend demonstrations in the city where she lives, during which protesters suggested she and her family were traitors for discussing her situation with foreign media.
Father and son are said to have reconciled but World of Warcraft expert Olivia Grace said she did not think Mr Feng's actions would necessarily act as a deterrent.
Speaking by phone from her hospital room, Ms. Feng said that aside from a persistent headache, she was gradually recovering from the procedure earlier this month and would gladly return home if she were allowed to leave.
Feng, who became the first Chinese player to win an LPGA Tour event and a major when she captured the LPGA Championship last year, gave credit to Webb.
