Microsoft announced Monday that it's introducing new measures on its Live Search application that would erase identifying data from search logs 18 months after it's recorded and will allow users to surf sites with Microsoft-provided ads without having their behavior tracked.
But in some cases it was the creator of the machine image who was put at risk by leaving private keys on the server or failing to completely erase his or her own data before publishing it for customers to use, Balduzzi says.
In addition 128 bit AES encryption provides data protection and in particular can be used to rapidly erase the encryption key so the drive can be repurposed without concern about the old data being accessible.
