Two players have shot a 62 on the Old Course - Curtis Strange during the old Alfred DunhillCup in 1987 and Brian Davis in the Dunhill Links Championship in 2003.
Westwood may have managed to play the Ryder Cup and the Dunhill Links Championship but he revealed he was some way short of fitness during both events.
He took further titles at the KLM Open and Dunhill Links Championship and in-between those events played alongside McDowell in the European Ryder Cup team.
