The original start-up dream was to work like crazy, bring in angel investors and venture capitalists to productise the new technology and finance growth, before exiting a sizeable company via an initial public offering (IPO) or trade sale.
This country was built and sustained by people who risked everything because they believed in the idea of America -- the idea that anybody with a dream and a willingness to work can make a life for themselves here. (Applause.) That is part of the American Dream.
In conceiving the exhibition, the curators were especially inspired by Mr. Hamilton's work and his belief that human and machine share a "dream-like life, " having come to act as a single entity.
