Gore repeatedly denied he has any plans to run again, but this week a group of grass-roots Democrats calling themselves "Draft Gore" took out a full-page ad in The New York Times in a bid to change his mind.
There is a strong draft-Gore movement going on right now and the former vice president could parlay his Nobel Peace Prize win into a bid for the White House.
Indeed, on the same day Mr Gore was denouncing oil and drug companies in Chicago, the Democratic Party in Washington was issuing its draft platform, or manifesto.
