As well as leading the research, Dr Roberts is also set to take part in the Ironman event.

Nan Laird, a professor of biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health, who was not involved with the study, says that she believes both the analysis and the data-gathering techniques used by Dr Roberts to be sound.
"We wanted to test whether the salmon were able to recognise the otter as a threat using just chemical cues, and also to see whether they were detecting the smell of the predator's itself or of its diet, " said Dr Roberts, whose research was published in the Animal Behaviour Journal.
