Such patients would either be effectively treated with IV antibiotics in observation for 24 hours anddischarged when their condition improved, as cellulitis often does with 24 hours of antibiotic treatment, or would be given one dose of IV antibiotics in the emergency room and sent home with antibiotics by mouth and a follow up appointment soon after the ER visit.
