Spotify, a music-streaming service created by Swedish programmers that has grown at an astonishing rate, is trying to move from dependence on advertising to subscriptions.
The region certainly needs to tap into every ounce of entrepreneurial spirit it has got given the highest unemployment rate in the country, and its dependence on the public sector.
It shows not only that 49% of American households now depend on government, more than double the rate of the 1980s, but that spending on dependence-oriented programs, as a portion of all federal spending, increased from 28% in 1962 to 49% in 1990, and 71% in 2010.
This dependence on incarceration was linked to the belief that street crime is committed by persistent "high-rate" offenders who will continue to offend if they are not locked up.
