Irina Bokova and Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development, discussed deepening cooperation on primary education and Africa, as the beginning of strengthened cooperation between the EU and UNESCO.
The Prime Minister stated her full support to UNESCO in taking forward its mandate and expressed an interest in deepening cooperation, including in promoting access to education through ICTs.
The President looks forward to holding discussions with the Prime Minister on a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues, including the U.S.-Japan Security Alliance, economic and trade issues, and deepening bilateral cooperation.
Deepening economic cooperation between the United States and Russia in commercial ties will certainly be on the agenda as well, given Russia's accession to the WTO, our continued efforts, again, to get greater access for U.S. businesses to Russian markets.
