This was Enable Talk, a pair of gloves that with the help of sensors and new smartphone software developed by a team of twenty-something programmers from the Ukraine, could change the waydeaf people communicate with the world around them.
"If they don't have access to learning a sign language that's already in existence, then a community of deaf people will find a way to communicate, " said Leanne Hinton, a professor emeritus at the University of California at Berkeley.
