The answer seems to be that the satellite data corrected by Mr Wentz and Dr Schabel already contained an unintended element of correction for orbital decay.
And, on the same day, JAMA published its own correction, confirming Dr Leo's allegation and the other non-disclosures now admitted by the original authors.
