Lawyers are lobbying Washington for better tax treatment for their contingentfee cases, but doctor groups like the AMA have lined up claiming passage will give rise to even more lawsuits, many of them plaguing the healthcare field.
Dornan's class action alleges that at least since 1990 variable annuity underwriters and Morgan Stanley maintained "secret contingentfee sharing arrangements" in which a portion of commission revenue was paid to the brokerage as an incentive to sell the product.
