Two award-winning photographers have been killed while covering the conflict in the Libyan city of Misrata.

Japanese journalist Mika Yamamoto received the Mediterranean Award for Information, following her death while reporting during the conflict in Syria.

Her numerous other awards include a Gracie Allen Award in 2007 for her reporting from Cyprus on the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict as well as her reports from the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.
