Frames for existing opinions like some of those I talked about yesterday, are complex, layered, multi-dimensional and comprised of values, experiences, knowledge, skills and unexamined stereotypes.
Their knowledge of history and culture allows them to understand the complex social worlds they encounter in their work and family life, in their home countries or abroad.
This approach led to good ideas with strong technical underpinning remaining as complex solutions that worked great for the net and for people with a high level of knowledge about the internet but failed in the face of easier and more locked down solutions.
And yet to define the university as the engine room of the knowledge economy also imposes complex new demands on an institution already struggling to reconcile its ancient tradition with the demands of mass higher education.
