One of the microtrends I identified two years ago was the DIYD. or do-it-yourself doctor, who arrives at the doctor's office complete with the diagnosis and list of drugs that need to be prescribed.
At the same time, some parents may push for an ADHD diagnosis so their child can get extra time to complete standardized tests, even if that diagnosis isn't appropriate.
Likewise if physicians are in a rush, they might not take a thorough history, perform a complete physical exam, or have an accurate and thorough list of diagnostic possibilities, ultimately resulting in the wrong diagnosis.
