He said there would be "a high-profile police presence in the area over the next few days both to provide reassurance and support to the communityof Aberdare and to assist the inquiry team by speaking to members of the public who may have information".
He said he recognised there were many who had suffered "at the hands of abusers within the community" and although this inquiry did not cover clerical and child abuse outside of institutions, they were as entitled to an inquiry.
Det Sgt Colin McKenzie told the court that Ms Spence had been under investigation by the SCDEA for mortgage fraud involving large numbers of the Chinese community - and that the inquiry was closing in.
