Today, five major providers of electronic medical records are banding together to form a new non-profit called the CommonWell Health Alliance with the aim of fixing that problem.
Instead of waiting for possibly more government intervention to force vendors to open up their silos of patient information, they formed the CommonWell Health Alliance to do it themselves.
In a bid to put a private sector stamp on the push for interoperability, a group of electronic health records vendors led by Cerner and McKesson formed the CommonWell Health Alliance yesterday.
