When soldiers came home from Vietnam, psychiatrists, the military and the Veterans Administration didn't recognize the existence of mental illness caused by exposure to combattrauma.
And this season even the television show Homeland took the opportunity to address, through the wife of a former prisoner of war, the totally unanticipated emotional consequences resulting from the trauma that combat veterans bring back from the field.

The report comes two days after Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry VC accused the government of failing to offer enough help for veterans with mental trauma caused by their combat experiences.
