The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced Thursday it has approved new circuit breaker rules in response to the market disruption that took place on May 6.
Traders have already been saying new individual stock circuit breaker rules at the exchanges create more inefficiencies than they solve, and now the Securities and Exchange Commission is considering tightening the noose more by seeking stricter trading obligations on market makers.
The Securities and Exchange Commission said Monday that the heads of various U.S. exchanges have agreed to strengthen circuit breakers and other ways of handling erroneous trades.
