Western Isles SNP MSP Alasdair Allan said he was aware of discussions between CalMac and the unions.
CalMac said religion or beliefs were not valid reasons under European law to refuse to run the ferry.
The Scottish government has urged CalMac and the union to resolve the matter.
CalMac said repairs were progressing well on the Isle of Lewis, which has been tied up alongside the pier at Ullapool.

CalMac is to meet the staff's union on Tuesday to discuss changes to weekend and shift allowances, night working payments and annual holiday bonuses.
CalMac managing director, Martin Dorchester, said the new service was the first new route for the firm and the Argyll area in nearly 20 years.
The service, run by CalMac on behalf of Transport Scotland, will operate three times a week from Ardrossan to Campbeltown, with an extra stop at Brodick, on Arran, on Saturday.
This left CalMac as the only bidder.
