Most of the Cisco equipment you buy sits idle quite a bit of the time: by virtualizing it, you can improve performance and lower your equipment costs at the same time.
At the same time they disdain the idle rich produced by old wealth, such as the European aristocracy and the drifting trust-fund kids descended from the East Coast tycoons of the early 20th century.
For example, Southwest Airlines cut the amount of idletime for its planes at the gate by about 50%, which produced a huge fuel savings and dramatically increased plane utilization (one of the highest cost drivers in the airline industry), without negatively impacting service quality.
