Google claims it will notreplicate this sales force, but instead work towards the kind of simple, self service capability that underlies its Adwords system.
But a virtual school does not fully replicate an actual classroom, and even if it did, we should be deeply troubled by the funneling of public education dollars into the coffers of for-profit businesses with very dubious transparency and even more dubious results.
If Facebook with its 1 billion users can replicate that kind of success, it could mark not only a step forward for Facebook but a shift in the way we all communicate.
