These give the companies the option to build there within the next 20 years, if they wish to do so. (Though Exelon has said it was only testing the waters for the licensing procedure and has no plans to build in Illinois.) Similar applications for a Dominion site in Virginia and a Southern Co. site in Georgia are pending.
