"Brooklands is a unique place which is celebrated as a test bed of invention and daring for both motor racing and aviation development, " said Stuart McLeod, head of Heritage Lottery South East.
These include highly desirable (and, obviously, well-secured) rides like the Bentley Azure and Brooklands, Bugatti Veyron, BMW M3, M5 and M6, Dodge Viper, Porsche Boxster or Cayman and the entire Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce lineups.
As part of the aircraft factory and race track revival project, the hangar will be restored on a new site next to the race track and show displays of how aircraft were designed and built at Brooklands for 80 years.
Tappin, the former director of Surrey-based Brooklands International Freight Services and the former president of Kent Golf Society, had previously denied trying to sell batteries for surface-to-air missiles that were to be shipped from the US to Tehran via the Netherlands, claiming he was the victim of an FBI sting.
